Aryatara Shakya was elected a goddess during the Dasai festival on Tuesday.
Aryatara Shakya, a 2 -year -old girl in Nepal, has been selected as the new ‘Devi’. On the occasion of Dashain festival, a ceremony related to this was held on Tuesday in the capital Kathmandu.
Aryatara Shakya sat on his lap and brought him from home to the temple. During this time, the devotees stood in queue to touch his feet and offer them flowers and money.
New Devi Aryatara Shakya has replaced Trishna Shakya. Earlier last month, Trishna left the post of Goddess. Trishna Shakya took over as ‘Devi’ in 2017 and is now 11 years old.
According to tradition, when the goddess starts menstruation, she has to step down. She is considered a mortal goddess because of achieving puberty.
Aryatara will now stay in Kumari Temple Mahal and will bless the devotees here.
The selection committee collected names from 12 restoration (regions) and the names of three girls were finalized. Aryatara was finally chosen.
After being elected Aryatara Devi, she came in front of her father’s lap and came in front of people.
The Goddess was brought from her house to the temple with pomp.
While taking the goddess to the temple, people stood on the way and greeted her.
Shakya clan is selected by Goddess
In Nepal, Devi is selected from Shakya Kulas of Newar community, who are native to Kathmandu Valley. This community worships the Goddess in both Hindu and Buddhist religions.
The goddess is selected at the age of 2 to 4 years. For selection, their skin, hair, eyes and teeth should be clean. Another important condition is that they should not be afraid of darkness.
The goddess is always dressed in red clothes, a ‘third eye’ mark is placed on the forehead and black liner is placed around the eyes. Along with this, they have to keep their hair tied.

Preparations are made to make daughters a goddess
Daughters are prepared to become ‘Goddess’ in Shakya dynasty and competition for it. By becoming a goddess, family and family get a high place in the society.
Goddess lives in an ancient street in Kathmandu in an house. This is called Kumari Bhavan. From there, she goes out during some festivals and religious processions a year. The goddess has to live there without any friends.
When growing up, when the girl’s goddess the status is over, she finds it difficult to get into normal life, learn household chores and go to school.
According to Nepali folklore, men who marry the former goddess die at a young age, so many former goddesses remain unmarried.

Goddess will bless the President tomorrow
The tradition of Devi selection is going on from the Malla Dynasty (12th century). Seeing Kumari Devi, devotees get good luck. Aryatara will bless the President and supporters on Thursday.
Aryatara’s father Anant Shakya said- ‘She was my daughter till yesterday, but today she is a goddess. During pregnancy, my wife dreamed that she had a goddess in her girlf. Then we understood that something special in it.
He also told that during pregnancy, he received some indications which felt that his daughter would be very special.
