Saeed Ajmal’s big disclosure, after winning the World Cup, Pakistan team got cheated from its own government

Government had cheated

Actually, Ajmal had told that after winning the 2009 T20 World Cup, the Pakistan team was cheated by his own government. Pakistan won the title in the final played at the Lord’s ground in England and the whole country was immersed in celebrations. The then Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani had promised to give 25-25 lakh Pakistani rupees to the players, but when it came to pay this amount, the government gave the checks in the hands of the players, which later bounced.

Ajmal had said in a podcast, “I was surprised how the government’s checks could be bounced. Later when the players went to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on the matter, they refused to take responsibility. PCB said that it was the promise of the government, not the board.

Saeed Ajmal’s performance

Significantly, Saeed Ajmal proved to be a star player for Pakistan in that 2009 tournament. He took 12 wickets and played an important role in making the team champion. In his international career, Ajmal played 35 Tests, 113 ODIs and 64 T20 matches, in which he took 447 wickets in total.

Big difference between India and Pakistan

This revelation once again showed that Pakistan cricket and its politics are entangled among themselves. The players could not get a respectable reward even after a big achievement like winning the World Cup.
