A major accident occurred on Tuesday during the construction of Annor Thermal Power Station located in Minjoor area of Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. Nine migrant laborers of Assam died on the spot due to falling a heavy steel arch (iron structure) at the under construction site, while the news of another laborer was injured. The governments of both Tamil Nadu and Assam places are currently engaged in relief work in the case. This information was given by the Chief Minister of Amas Himant Biswa Sarma.
CM Sarma told the social media platform X that the state government is coordinating with the Tamil Nadu administration so that the bodies of the dead can be brought to Assam as soon as possible. He said that four of the deceased laborers were from Karbi Anglong district and five from Hojai district.

Significantly, this incident happened when construction work was going on at the site of the power plant. The laborers were working on a scaffolding. During this, the scaffolding suddenly fell down. Due to this, the laborers fell down from about 30 feet and made a loud sound. In such a situation, the laborers started hurriedly and started the relief work and informed the power plant officials about this incident.
