A video of the meeting of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Turkish President Rechpe Tayyip Erdogan has surfaced at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. In this, PM Modi is seen shaking hands with Erdogan warmly and patting the back. This scene is believed to be special because India-Turki relations have been very tense in recent months.
The root of tension is associated with the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, in which 26 civilians were killed. India then carried out accurate attacks on terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), which was named Operation Sindoor. After this action, Turkey openly supported Pakistan and condemned India.
Turkish President Erdogan then condemned the Indian attacks by talking to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and expressed condolences to Pakistan. According to sources, Turkey not only provided more than 350 drones to Pakistan, but also sent experts to help in their operation. These included Bayraktar TB2 and Yiha drones, who were deployed for suicide attacks on Indian fronts and supply conveoys. During this time two Turkish military personnel also died.
