There was a 5.5 magnitude earthquake here at around 3 pm on Wednesday night, after which the agency has issued a warning of big jerks. Also, people have been instructed to go to a safe place.

Japan is one of the most earthquake affected countries in the world. It is situated on four large tectonic plates and is part of the Ring of Fire of the Pacific Ocean. Every year there are about 1500 earthquakes, most of which are light.

The information about why so much earthquake occurred in just two weeks in the island of Tokara has not been revealed.

According to the data, 183 earthquakes occurred on 23 June, which were the most earthquakes in a day. On June 26, on 15 and 27 June earthquakes occurred 16 times. But on June 28, this number again increased to 34 and 98 on June 29. On June 30, 62 earthquakes were recorded.

The earthquake in Japan’s Torakara caused a crack on the road after landslides and land slipping.

The 7.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in January 2024 in Ishikawa province of Japan. About 600 people died in this.

The risk of 2.98 lakh deaths due to earthquake next 30 years

About 600 people were killed in 2024 earthquakes in Japan’s Noto Island. In 2011, the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami killed more than 18 thousand people.

The government of Japan has warned of an earthquake to intensify 75-82 percent here in the next 30 years. If this happens, 2.98 lakh people can be killed and there may be a loss of $ 2 trillion (167 lakh crore rupees).

According to officials, there is no news of any damage from anywhere, nor a tsunami warning has been issued from the earthquake, but people have been asked to be ready if needed.

A local resident told the media that sleeping at night has also become very scary. It seems that the house always moves.

Local people say that they are unable to sleep in fear. One person said, “The earth is moving all the time, these earthquakes are like a bad dream.” Another resident said, “Don’t know when it will stop. I have to take my children to a safe place.”

How is it decided whether it is a tsunami or not

According to Japan’s’ Tsunami Warning System’- If a tsunami advisory or alert is issued after the earthquake and after that 1 meter high waves arise in the sea, it is kept in the tsunami category. Their height can be 3 to 5 meters later. If the waves up to 5 meters arise, it is kept in the ‘Major Tsunami’ category.
