Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the ‘Order of Oman’, Oman’s highest civilian honour. Along with this, till now he has received the highest foreign civilian honors of 29 countries. This honor not only reflects the personal diplomacy of Prime Minister Modi, but also signals India’s growing strength and influence on the global stage.
Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman presented this honor to Prime Minister Modi. This honor was given to him during his two-day state visit to Oman. This visit was the last leg of his three-nation tour. The Order of Oman is Oman’s highest civilian honour, established in 1970 by Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
Historical background of India-Oman relations
This honor is given to honor the strong and longstanding relations between India and Oman. It is given for contribution to bilateral relations, public relations and global peace between the two countries. This occasion is also being considered special because 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and Oman have been completed.

PM Modi’s reaction
After receiving the honour, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude to the Sultan of Oman. He said that this honor is a symbol of mutual trust and affection between the people of India and Oman. The Prime Minister said that the Arabian Sea has been a bridge connecting the two countries for centuries and this honor is dedicated to the people of India and the ancestors of both the countries, who laid the foundation of relations through trade and maritime connectivity.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Prime Minister has dedicated this honor to the age-old friendship between India and Oman. According to the ministry, this honor is a symbol of the strategic partnership between the two countries and the mutual trust between the 140 crore Indians and the people of Oman. The ministry described it as a new chapter in the relations between the two countries.
Received highest honor from 29 countries
Along with the Order of Oman, Prime Minister Modi has so far received the highest civilian honors of 29 countries. These include big honors from countries like Brazil, France, Russia, America, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Egypt, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Palestine. This achievement is considered rare for any Indian Prime Minister. These honors received by Prime Minister Modi show India’s strong foreign policy and growing global role. This honor of Oman shows that India is now not just a regional power but has established itself as a reliable and influential country on the global stage.
