Rodrigues was chosen Player of the Match for his unbeaten and memorable century innings.

After being named the player of the match, Jemima said, “First of all, I want to thank Jesus, because I could not have done all this alone. I know that today he got me through this difficult period. I want to thank my mother, father, coach and everyone who believed in me during this time. The last four months have been really very difficult, but it feels like a dream and it has not come true yet.”

Australia had given India a target of 339 runs to win. The Indian team was in trouble at 59 after losing the wickets of Mandhana and Shefali. Jemimah Rodrigues, who came to bat at number three, played an unbeaten inning of 127 runs with the help of 14 fours in 134 balls and played a memorable role in the team’s victory.

Rodrigues also got good support from captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Harman played an inning of 89 runs in 88 balls and made a match-winning partnership of 167 runs with Rodrigues for the third wicket. Deepti Sharma scored 24 runs, Richa Ghosh scored 26 runs and Amanjot Kaur scored 15 unbeaten runs. Shefali was out after scoring 10 runs and Mandhana after scoring 24 runs. India scored 341 runs for 5 wickets in 48.3 overs and won the match by 5 wickets.

Earlier, 331 was the highest target to be achieved in women’s ODI cricket. By achieving the target of 339 runs, the Indian team has created a new record.
